Help defend BDSM, LGBTQ and free speech

Help the first UK solicitor to crowd-fund his pro bono work to defend BDSM, LGBTQ, sex work, privacy and free speech.

If you are reading this and you are in the UK, you may one day need a lawyer to defend you and yours against the government’s anti-sexual freedom laws.

Even if you are not in the UK, you may enjoy reading or viewing material produced there, so this affects you too.

Myles Jackman is the lawyer who specialises in this work and he devotes a lot of his time to working pro bono – i.e. for free. Help Myles do this important work by pledging a small monthly sum.

This is important. Read on…

In yet another first, award winning ‘Obscenity Lawyer’ Myles Jackman has launched an appeal on the crowd-funding website Patreon for monthly donations to fund his pro bono activism practice.

Jackman is known for his cutting-edge work representing criminal defendants charged with consensual adult pornography offences and specialises in privacy and freedom of expression issues, especially for members of the BDSM, LGBTQ, adult-Industry and sex-work communities.

The personal donations on Patreon, which currently range from pledges of $1 to $150 US dollars per month, will allow Jackman to work pro bono on legal challenges like judicially reviewing the Extreme Pornography laws under which Tiger Porn defendant Andrew Holland suffered.

Myles Jackman stated… “Today I’m launching my appeal in the public domain, as the first lawyer to use crowd-funding to create social change. I want to benefit society by challenging our arcane obscenity laws”.

“Given the current climate of Government cuts to criminal legal aid, I knew I had to do something to continue my pro bono activism and work campaigning for the recognition and rights of the BDSM, LGBTQ, Adult-Industry and Sex-Work communities”.

“I launched my Patreon appeal to my Facebook friends only, two weeks ago. Within ten days I had over 70 patrons, who had pledged to donate over $1,000 in total every month”.

“I feel completely overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit my friends have demonstrated”.

He was awarded the Law Society’s Junior Lawyer of the Year Excellence Award the same year (2012) for his legal work representing sexual subcultures.
4) Myles Jackman has campaigned against the UK’s obscenity laws saying that “they are 20 years behind social values”; as well as the difference between the age of consent at 16 and the age of majority at 18 which has led to teenagers being criminalised by sexting selfies; and also criticised the Crown Prosecution Service for being “institutionally homophobic”.
